$300 – Mid Century Modern Wood Cabinets from CADO Style Wall Shelving System 1950s 1960s

Legacy Details

Lot of 3 wooden cabinets that work with a 1950s/ 1960s Poul Cadovius style wall system.

NOTE: The 1st image is the style unit that these 3 components work with–the pic shows a built set–I am selling 3 pieces NOT the unit shown. My hope is that there is someone who is handy, a woodworker, or upcycler, who can use these to build into a similar unit–or someone who has this style unit and can use them to expand their wall system. THere are holes on the side of each piece that allow for connecting to vertical supports.

What it is: Set of 3 matching mahogany MCM cabinets that work with a Cadovius CADO “style” system–these are a Yugoslavian version (from what I have researched) and I have shown an image of the system (not what I am selling) that I found (online) where the same fluting design on the fronts is featured. Note: ****The image I have shown was pulled from a google search. The 2 matching cabinets have double dors that open to shelving insude; the bar cabinet folds down and reveals a desk interior, or a bar interior. The pieces could be used without the vertical pieces if you want to insert them into a shelving system where they sit flat on a surface too.

There are only the 3 pieces available, no vertical supports, though that is where are handy woodworker could make some easily, as it’s a simple rectangle, and could also be done in metal.

The wood is mahogany on the fonrt s and perhaps walnut on the sides, and the color is rich and the construction quality is higher end. All pieces are finished on the back sides. They are all in good to very good vintage condition. The key is missing from the flip down secretary/ bar, and the small drawer is missing in the upper corner. The wood is in great shape with a few blemishes here and there, but nothing major. One of the piano hinges in side the cabinet needs 2 new small screws. The back sides have 3 minor white paint marks that can be removed, but I thought it best, if you are not going to float these that I would leave well enough alone.

The estate sale where I bought them did not included the vertical standards / side mounts, which sucks, but maybe there is someone out there who has this system and needs additional pieces, or someone who wants to retrofit these cabinets into a new system.

The cabinets could easily get legs on them and become bedside tables.
