Something Vintage Rentals is an event rental company working primarily in corporate and private events, although we do venture into Film, Theatre, and Installations as well. We’re looking for some talented and motivated crew to join the overhire team at Something Vintage Rentals. Primarily we are looking for those with experience building and restoring furniture and installation pieces. Most of our custom build orders are Bars, Backdrops, and shelving units.

Scheduling can be flexible, both in dates and times. Do not hesitate to reach out even if you are beginning to pick up theatre work again, our busy season ebbs and flows the same as theatre, so we understand limited availability and would love to have a wide pool of overhire technicians to call on.

As a Carpenter at Something Vintage, you will be responsible for working with your fellow team members to fabricate custom pieces for our clients.

Most of our builds and wooden construction, although we do occasionally work with Metal, PVC, fabric, and other materials. Flexibility with projects is a huge plus, each day can bring something radically different.

Job Description:

– Build new inventory from plans and concepts.

– Repair existing inventory, such as bars, backdrops, tables, chairs, and upholstered furniture.

– Engineer mobile, durable inventory that is quick to assemble/disassemble. – Maintain exceptional quality of builds – i.e. no sloppy joints, glue showing, paint/stain dripping.

– Come up with new/better ways to build, transport inventory to make set-up more efficient.

– Maintain safety, cleanliness and organization of your carpentry area. – Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed

Qualifications:

– Has professional level carpentry skills

– Experience applying stain, paint, and top coats at a professional level.

– Has significant experience building bars, tables, and other furniture.

– Has a valid driver’s license and ideally experience driving box trucks or willing to learn.

– Can lift 70+ lbs
