You can obtain a CoF (Fireguard) at FDNY Metrotech in Bklyn. But keep in mind there is usually specific protocol to follow such as : disconnected battery, 1/8th tank of gas, fire suppression w/ standby personnel, proper ventilation, and most likely permit(s). The FDNY does not mess around & takes this very seriously- violations can incur fines up to $10k & in some cases even involve criminal charges. Make sure to do your due diligence in clarifying with the stage manager, FDNY & Mayor's office of film & TV as these rules can sometimes be amended/ updated.
You may also want to look into having GoJak auto dollies on-hand to dance the car around. Good luck!
Make sure you sign up for the correct CoF Test. If you have a basic knowledge of safety around chemicals, fire hydrant storage and the like - you should be fine to sort it out in a week. Are they willing to pay the fees? I had a company ask me for a DOT Physical once and since I hadn't had one before they paid the fees for it.
Yes, if they have dates and availability in the room. Some weeks there are no tests or all the chairs in the “classroom” are full. But the information needed to be studied can be digested in way less than a week.
You may be able to get it in a week. The study materials are online. Then you hae to go to the fire department to take a test.
