Hello Out There!
We are in search of an amazing makeup artist to do a consultation with our cast for a show going up at Mabou Mines next week. The project is called “Anna May Wong: The Actress Died A Thousand Deaths” and it explores and defies Hollywood’s history of marginalizing Asian American actors in cinema, while also exhibiting and critiquing the stereotypes and customs of the era such as yellowface. It is a live cinema theater performance, which utilizes live cameras and editing projected onstage as part of the performance.
We are hoping to book a makeup artist for one day consult with some of our cast members for $250-300 stipend to give us advice on 1920s era makeup and yellowface practices in early cinema.
Please contact [email protected] if interested in the position.
