PRODUCER, FREELANCE APPLY NOW: https://jobs.spectrum.com/form/candidate/61716/4673/7561243 Requisition Number: 214374BR Location: United States - North Carolina - Charlotte Area of Interest: Cable Television Production, Editorial, Network Television Production, News, Production Position Type: Part Time JOB SUMMARY The Sr. Producer is responsible for organizing script workflow and editing, as well as pitching, researching, and producing content for a weekly news magazine show. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise weekly special long form programming Oversee construction of long form pieces from conception to completion in conjunction with leadership Ensure reports produced are relevant to the area of coverage Solve the challenges that come with dynamic news coverage Develop backups for critical coverage Identify and pitch long-term enterprise stories that are highly promotable and will bring about change Develop and maintain contacts and sources in the community to enterprise story ideas Oversee decisions on story lineup, video/audio elements, graphics and timing to construct a show Work with Producers to create the news magazine content Perform writing, editing and digitizing functions as needed Supervise and copy-edits segment producers scripts Generate story and coverage ideas on a daily and long-term basis Follow through on all assignments meeting required deadlines Perform other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Skills/Abilities and Knowledge Proficient at inspiring staff to attain station goals of creativity, urgency and accuracy Interpersonal skills and excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment and interact with all personnel within the organization Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong news judgment Attention to detail Ability to shoot and edit video Familiarity with IRE best practices Familiarity with the local market Knowledge of social media platforms Must be able to work rapidly and accurately Ability to anticipate situations, meet strict deadlines, organize and manage multiple priorities Knowledge of current events and industry trends Pro-active with demonstrated enthusiasm in dealing with breaking news and high-stress situations Must be able to effectively train others Knowledge of general office computer software, newsroom software and non-linear editing systems Knowledge of legal standards to ensure editorial guidelines of all segments Must be able and willing to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field or comparable television work experience RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE Number of Years News experience 8+ Experience producing long form documentaries, magazine and arts, culture 5+ and entertainment Management experience 3+ WORKING CONDITIONS Works primarily inside a climate controlled environment throughout the year but will be expected to fulfill field duties regularly Works in an open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environment May be required to lift up to 30 pounds EOE Charter Communication is an Equal Opportunity Employer – Minority/Female/Veteran/Disability The Spectrum brand is powered and innovated by Charter Communications.
