Newel Props is seeking a full-time Sales Assistant / Junior Sales Person to work primarily at our Long Island City location. 

Newel Props is a decorative arts and antiques sales and rental resource with over 18,000 unique pieces and two NYC locations–one showroom in Manhattan, and a 75,000 square foot showroom/warehouse in LIC. It is the go-to resource for the entertainment, print, retail and event industries.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist Managing Director with putting together an accurate estimate for clients via email, phone calls, in-person shopping and website.  
  • Learn the inventory, guide clients through the website to find what they are looking for, as well as put together lookbooks.  
  • Learn all rental processes and consistently perform them.  Have a problem-solving approach.  
  • Maintain & cultivate relationships with current and potential clients.
  • Provide administrative support for getting orders ready for pick up and their returns.
  • Communicate with clients about orders that have not been picked up, have not returned, partial returns, and returning items that don’t belong to us.  
  • Work with the warehouse to troubleshoot orders before they go out and communicate necessary information to the client.  
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and clearly communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Serve as back-up for reception.
  • Prepare legal clearance for CEO signature.

 

Qualifications:

  • Passion for antiques, furniture, interior design, and the Newel Props collection.
  •  2-3 years of sales experience in the decorative arts space with a proven record of working with clients and providing customer service.
  • Experience on sets as a production assistant/set design assistant.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills and the ability to work efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to see the details as well as the big picture.
  • Ability to communicate and convey information effectively.  
  • Tech-savvy, especially Gmail and Google Docs 
  • Self-motivation with an entrepreneurial drive to create and manage accounts in order to achieve and exceed sales goals. 

HOURS/COMPENSATION:

  • Hours: Full-time, in-person, 9-5, Monday – Friday
  • Salary: 50-60k/year, commensurate with experience
