Hello Cube,

Wishing you all good health and resilience.

  • The Mayor’s Office announced it will not issue permits until at least June 15th. link
  • Filmmaking is considered “entertainment” NOT manufacturing, so we’re Phase Four.
  • We will be getting filmmaking guidance from the Governor’s Office when the time comes.
  • Cuomo and De Blasio both estimate a mid-June opening after two outstanding requirements (out of seven) are met. They are:
  • 30 contact tracers per 100,000 residents.
  • Hospital-bed vacancy rate of at least 30 percent. (NYC is at 28%)

There are four phases of re-opening.

Phase One

Construction, manufacturing, wholesale supply chain retailers for curbside pickup, in-store pickup, or drop off. Agriculture, forestry, fishing, and hunting businesses, landscaping and gardening businesses, drive-in movie theaters, and low-risk recreational activities like socially distant sports such as tennis.

After two weeks, state and regional officials will evaluate the outcomes of the reopening and decide whether or not the region can move onto the next phase.

Phase Two

Storefront retailers and businesses in the professional services, finance and insurance, administrative support, and real-estate and leasing industries.

Under the current guidelines, no region will eligible to begin Phase Two until at least May 30.

Phase Three

Restaurants, food-service businesses, dine-in service, hotels, spas, and gyms.

Phase Four

Schools, arts, entertainment, and recreation businesses, theaters, movie theaters, and other entertainment venues, museums and other artistic institutions.

There you have it.
