Plexiglass behavior in set design – live music props

Advice Details

Hey cube - curious if anyone has built colorful plexiglass props for a live music/stage set up. I have a musician looking to create some large iridescent plexi panels for a tour, but am wondering how these will interact with stage lighting in a live music performance setting. If anyone has any opinion/experience/advice to offer, I would appreciate any and all input! Thank you! Lauren

  1. Not knowing any dimensions etc, drawbacks I’ve seen are unintended flashes at the audience or reflections that block the view for parts of the audience. There are impacts to the audio as these are very reflective surfaces. When it comes to shipping them around from gig to gig, you gotta be real careful loading and unloading, this stuff scratches real easy.
“Holograms” are cool to shoot onto these.
It sounds like a pretty cool undertaking, good luck with it. 🙂
I think that’s all I can recall. If you need extra hands on this, love to take part.
    Cheers,
