The CNC Operator / Machinist is primarily responsible for the complete operation and maintenance of the Multi-cam router but should also have general scenic carpentry skills. The CNC Operator / Machinist will assist the Scenic Construction Manager with CNC programming and assist the shop with the construction and handling of scenic product.
The ideal candidate must have a high level of professionalism, a strong organizational background, excellent communication / interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail. Scenic carpentry skills include self-motivation and conscientious fabrication to produce high finish quality scenery while meeting the demands of an aggressive production schedule. Must have command of hand and stationary woodworking tools. Hands on experience related to design, wood/metal fabrication or general construction.
CNC Operator/Machinist Job Duties:
-Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
-Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
-Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
-Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
-Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
-Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
-Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
-Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
-Capable of loading sheet goods onto work area
-Understanding of CAD/CAM software i.e. sketchup, fusion360, autocad, enroute
