Art for Film Studio Assistant Position

 

Art for Film, the leading East Coast-based art rental company, seeks a detail-oriented & dedicated Studio Assistant who is interested in gaining experience and supporting a wide range of art-related production and management. As a small, boutique business, the Studio Assistant will work very closely with the Studio Manager at our Brooklyn Navy Yard warehouse and will have a wide variety of responsibilities with ample opportunity for growth. Responsibilities include:

·     Artwork Handling & Warehouse Management- pull, wrap and prepare artworks (primarily reproductions) for orders as needed including mounting in mats, stretching canvases and framing; receive artwork returns and inspect for damages; assist in restoring damaged artwork.

·     Artwork Tracking & Coordination- ensure that inventory tracking database is up-to-date to coordinate and anticipate pick-ups and returns of artwork.

·     Order Fulfillment- work with the Director & Studio Manager to respond quickly to artwork inquiries and quote requests. Communicate clearly with clients to expedite and fulfill orders.

·     Inventory Management – work with the Studio Manager to ensure that the warehouse remains organized and that all inventory is returned, stored properly and in good condition; move & organize inventory, including oversized 10ft+ canvases and stretchers.

·     Photoshop – prepare and manipulate high resolution digital files for printing; prepare & upload images to website.

·     Fine Art Digital Printing – assist in printing artwork in-house on a top-of-the-line fine art quality 60” large format printer, and a smaller printer.

·     Artwork Curating & Research – select artwork from our collection given a client’s criteria; research potential artists whose work would fit a particular project’s requirements.

·     Digital Imaging & Website Maintenance – support the preparation, uploading, organization and transfer of images and data to website.

Requirements:

– Exceptional communication and organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail

– Good attitude and responsible self-starter

– Basic Photoshop skills required, more advanced Photoshop skills strongly preferred

– Ability to work with speed & accuracy, switch hats at a moment’s notice, and juggle multiple projects

– Ability to stretch canvases, build simple or floating wood frames, restore artwork and graphic artist skills a plus

– Strength to move and carry artworks (usually stretched canvasses) up to about 30lbs and 10+ft
