The award-winning Vital Theatre Company is seeking a professional, experienced, Stage Manager for rehearsals and the productions its family musical “Owen and Mzee the Musical.” The successful candidate will have all this skills and assume all the duties associated with being a stage manager, including but not limited to: working with the director to create a schedule, creating and keeping a company contact sheet, attending all rehearsals, keeping a prompt book with all blocking, choreography and music notes, calling the company via email/text/or telephone for all rehearsals and performances, communicating with the director and the Vital staff by way of daily stage manager reports, keeping notes on all aspects of the producing during rehearsals and performances, arriving at each performance, at the contracted time, in time to direct and assist the acting company to set up the stage prior to each performance, calling all times leading up to places, running the lights and sound during performances, assisting and directing the actors after the performances to strike and store the sets and props, to do or drop off/pick up show laundry and to send out costumes that need dry-cleaning.

This is a contemporary ensemble musical which is set in Kenya, East Africa. We are seeking artists and crew that represent the diversity of the African diaspora. The music is contemporary musical theatre inspired by East African choral music.

Owen and Mzee The Musical, https://www.owenandmzeethemusi… will rehearse daytimes, 4 hours daily, Mondays through Fridays, April 4th – 15th. The production will be filmed one day the Week of April 18th. April 24th travel to York PA. April 25th through 29th school performances at the Appell Center in York, PA.
