WHY does “doing your homework and making that known” matter to the Cube?

WHY does including the research/homework/obstacles matter to the Cube, when asking for help or locating an item?

What’s the impression you get when no demonstrable effort is put into the query?

(Please reply to this post for all to read.)

The email I send after I reject a post (below) explains it pretty well, but YOU the community are the voice I need to drive the matter home.

All first posts are moderated, and I’m seeing and rejecting a lot of posts that like this:

“Hey! I’m looking for this thing!

Thanks in advance!”

My standard email to explain after I kick it back:

“Do Your Homework and make that known”

Hey %FIRSTNAME% ,

ArtCube Nation has been a community since 2007. Standards of member engagement and a culture of demonstrable work ethic have evolved over the years. Our guidelines spell this out. Please read!

We want to ensure the success of posts of new members and have you seamlessly blend into this community to scale your professional reputation.

We also want ArtCube members to be motivated to take time out of their busy day to lend a hand to a peer in a jam.

Cube Culture

  • Cubers like to know that you’ve done a little research and/or called around before you ask for help finding an item.
  • ArtCube is not a search engine. It’s a busy, professional community of people who take time out of their day to help!
  • It’s considered professional and respectful to thank anyone who helped you.

When searching for specific items, be sure in to include:

  • Where have you looked?   Who have you called? What resources have you exhausted?
  • Time constraints/shipping snags.
  • Photos/as many details as you can provide.

Thanks for Cubing!

I’m asking our dev team to develop some AI to aid in this endeavor, but until then…. tell it like it is CUBE!
