Rusty Zimmerman is the Founder/Artist of the Free Portrait Project, giving 200 FREE oil-painted portraits from life-- with recorded oral histories-- to residents of Southern Brooklyn in 2023. His 200 free portraits of Crown Heights (2016) exhibited at Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Children's Museum, and Brooklyn Borough Hall, and the permanent collection of Poster House NYC.. Zimmerman’s work has been published in New York, London, and Tokyo, and featured in the New York Times, CityLab, and the Saatchi Gallery Magazine. He was the poster & portrait artist to former Governor Andrew Cuomo, and has lectured at Wellesley College and Long Island University. Zimmerman lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
