happy December. Time of Yule. Time of Snow. Amber gels for warm glow emanating from a cozy home. Let’s go with blue gels for a snowy scene being viewed through a suburbia front window with an evil snowman’s silhouette on the snow-covered front lawn. Sharp object in his hand is raised high. His shadow is cast across the front of the house. Slow snowflakes fly, from sparse to full screen. A carol plays in the background. Transition to red filters. Keep the carol rolling. Cut to black. Continue the carol. Cue rolling credits. A 30-second short. Horror genre. (But, next project, let’s do ethereal fairies. Blue, purple, shimmery white.)

So, let’s source the snow from ArtCube so it can be repurposed and avoid the landfill.

You might be thinking, well this is some sort of intro. I say all this for 1) fun and; 2) to solicit to creative projects seeking a hands-on art director.

my background includes 10 years owner/operator of a house painting business in NJ which included estimates, painting and color consultation. Those last 2 years overlapped with discovering (through a SVA colleague) the amazing ArtCube where I’ve had the fortune of meeting - and working alongside - incredible scenics, fabricators, installers, strikers, technical directors. Surprisingly, many of whom are musicians, like me. ;)

I took design classes at Parsons to enhance my knowledge in perspective drawing, renderings, etc. At one point, also an internship in acoustic treatments and wall-framing for boutique music studios in Brooklyn. (I’m based in Jersey City.)

When the pandemic hit, I dove deeper into creative painting, landing a Charge Scenic opportunity with NY Lottery livestream (Be Electric), some additional scenic work with MTV/Viacom, Bravo, WP Theatre, The Tank, and ultimately a year of fabrication and creative direction opportunities with Set Shop in Chelsea. At this point, I’m looking for Art Director opportunities. Very happy to bring a hands-on approach to your team, if desired.
